Are You Worthy?

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things,
And for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Rev.4:11
“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.” Rev. 5:9
“Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb…” Rev. 5:12
For many of us these are familiar verses, we understand their context in Revelation defining the end of time, and we long for the day when we will join that choir to sing aloud…”Worthy is the Lamb.”
But what about today? What about right now? In this day and age when our society is throwing God out, calling what is wrong - right, and what is right - wrong, are we singing from our roof tops, “But…He is Worthy,” or are we starting to doubt His worthiness?
Church attendance is down and gathering together is no longer on our priority list.
Why?
Yes, we are losing faith in our government, our education system, the work place, our news source, but are we losing faith in our churches too? I’m hearing many say, “The church is fake.”
What??? What is the church? Who is the church? Has my testimony become “unworthy?” Are we losing faith in each other? Are we losing FAITH?
Folks, we need to do something now!
Satan seems to be winning this battle, but we need to remind ourselves who won the war. God is on His throne and He is not shaken nor surprised, but He is searching the world over for those “who are worthy.”
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him….” 2 Chronicles 16:9
In context this was not a good time for Israel. The nation was divided, like we are today. Yet God conquered their enemies, provided their needs, and protected their land with peace and rest as long as their hearts were fixed on Him. Yet when you read further you’ll find that Asa, King of Judah got distracted and started turning his eyes from the Lord, then life went bad and he was dead five years later.
Read 2 Chronicles 16:9 again.
The Lord is searching for those “whose heart is perfect toward Him,” so that He (God) can show himself strong in your life. Wow, who doesn’t want the power of God in their lives? If there was ever a time we need His power it’s now, but are you worthy? Can He trust you with His power? So how do I make my heart perfect toward Him?
2 Chronicles 16:9 has become my favorite verse. I so desperately want to see God STRONG in my life everyday, that with each new morning I awake, I beg God to make my “heart perfect toward Him.” You see, this is a daily event for me, because I just can’t do it, I know that I am not worthy.
The truth is, we will never be “worthy,” but He alone is worthy and God is still on His throne.
So friend, join me in seeking Him daily as with a beggars heart, a humbled heart, knowing that His eyes run to and fro throughout the whole earth, that his ears are listening for those who will call upon Him and give their hearts to Him. Then, and only then, will He make our hearts perfect toward Him, through His power and for His Glory.
Oh yes, He is Worthy!
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
